pg 113 – There is no better example of using a fully integrated structural shell in a fluid organic builoding such as the soft rolling forms of Kibble Palace. Engineer John Kibble built the glasshouse at the Kibble home in Coulport, Loch Long.

“I found this building enormously influential while i Studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, and it was equally influential when we explored solutions for the Eden Project. As a young student i invited the engineer Tony Hunt to spend a few days at the architecture school and I also took him to see Kibble Palace, my favorite local building. Little did we know then that we would exploring similar themes together at Eden ten years later ” – Andrew Whalley
