The larget free-span dome in the world (95 x 55 meteres) is a low oval stretched over and nestled into the welsh countryside, an abstract and smooth shell rising up from its surroundings. Visitors to the national Botanic Garden of Wales enter down a ramp and through a tunnel, emerging in a light-filled world where the cliffs of the former quarry have been transformed into areas showing ecosystems from around the globe. The abstraction of the architecture is matched by landscape architect Kathryn Gustafson’s interpretation of natural land forms
